Tetragenetics, Inc. is an early-stage biotechnology company meeting the needs of customers who seek a cost-effective alternative platform technology for the production of genetically engineered proteins. We accomplish this by harnessing the unique biology of Tetrahymena thermophila. Such proteins include vaccine antigens, monoclonal antibodies, biosimilars, and a variety of therapeutic proteins for the treatment and prevention of human and animal disease.

We are actively pursuing both an internal pipeline of hard-to-make proteins and monoclonal antibodies, as well as partnered proteins via a cell line licensing model with a number of top-tier biopharmaceutical companies. Our scientific team has been instrumental in establishing Tetrahymena as a model organism, and in 2002 helped to spearhead a federally-funded effort to sequence its large macronuclear genome.

Having demonstrated Tetrahymena's potential for large-scale expression of eukaryotic membrane proteins, a number of leading investigators in the field came together to found Tetragenetics. We have assembled a Scientific Advisory Board comprised of many of the foremost researchers in ciliate molecular biology. The Company is privately held and maintains offices in both Ithaca, NY and Cambridge, MA.
