Research Associate (Full Time) 

Description: The Research Associate will be responsible for working together as part of a multidisciplinary team and support efforts aimed at the over-expression and purification of recombinant human membrane proteins from the protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila. The ideal candidate is expected to (1) carry out experimental work including growth and maintenance of microbial cultures 2) perform SDS-PAGE and Western blotting analysis of culture samples and (3) manage lab inventories of reagents, solutions and culture media.

Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in cell culture, protein purification and characterization (SDS-PAGE, Western analysis etc).
  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry would be a benefit.

The candidate is expected to be primarily self-directed and to be highly motivated to drive the above activities. She/he should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as good organizational skills.

 

Postdoc Research Associate: Electrophysiology (Full Time)

Description: This position will form part of a multidisciplinary team whose goal is to identify and develop therapeutic monoclonal antibodies targeting ion channels implicated in a variety of human diseases including autoimmune, pain and oncology. The postdoc will enable TetraGenetics’ drug discovery program and be responsible for screening mAbs to identify clones that modulate ion channel activity and further characterize hits to identify leads to move into clinical development. Screening and characterization of mAbs will be primarily carried out via electrophysiology, however, complimentary cell-based assays will also be employed. Additionally, this researcher will also characterize recombinant ion channels generated in TetraGenetics’ proprietary expression platform. The ideal candidate will be expected to independently generate, analyze and disseminate data and manage ephys lab operation, training and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physiology, Biochemistry or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in whole cell electrophysiology (manual or automated)-experience with artificial lipid-bilayer electrophysiology would be a benefit.

 

Postdoc Research Associate: Membrane Protein Purification (Full Time)

Description: This position will form part of a multidisciplinary team whose goal is to identify and develop therapeutic monoclonal antibodies targeting ion channels implicated in a variety of human diseases including autoimmune, pain and oncology. The postdoc will enable TetraGenetics’ drug discovery program and be responsible for generating and developing purified recombinant ion channel formulations designed to isolate mAbs capable of modulating ion channel function. Target recombinant ion channels will be generated in TetraGenetics proprietary expression platform and will isolated using standard and proprietary methods developed by TetraGenetics. Additionally, this researcher will generate select ion channels for determination of high-resolution structures alone and in complex with mAbs via cryoEM. The ideal candidate will be expected to independently generate, analyze and disseminate data and manage TetraGenetics’ purification suite operation, training and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in recombinant membrane protein production, purification and characterization. In particular experience with recombinant ion channels would be a benefit.
  • Experience in determining high-resolution structures of membrane proteins via cryoEM would be highly regarded.
